Clinical Psychologist
Registered Psychologist (Singapore)
Master of Psychology (Clinical)
Bachelor of Social Sciences (First Class Hons)(Psychology)
I completed my Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of Melbourne, Australia, under a scholarship from the Ministry of Health Holdings. I have more than 10 years of experience working in the field, of which seven years was spent in a public hospital and community settings. There, I provided psychotherapy to individuals with a wide range of mental health issues like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and personality disorders. I also developed a sub-specialty in a sleep, providing non-pharmacological treatments for sleep disorders like insomnia and delayed sleep phase syndrome.
While I enjoy working with clients of all ages and presentations, I am particularly passionate about working with youths and young adults, and individuals who struggle to cope with emotions, self-criticism, self-esteem issues, and developmental trauma.
To me, every client is a unique individual with a unique set of personality characteristics and life experiences. As such, I draw from a range of approaches in psychotherapy, and tailor my interventions to each client's unique needs. My training background includes the following:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Schema Therapy
- Emotion-Focused Therapy
- Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
I see it as a privilege to be able to share in my clients' stories, to work alongside them, and bear witness to their growth and transformation through the course of therapy. The process of understanding how one came to be the person that one is, and communicating this understanding to clients to help them make changes in their lives is an important aspect of my work that continues to drive me.
I look forward to embarking on a journey of self-discovery and growth with you.
Teaching & Advocacy.
I regularly provide teaching and training to healthcare professionals and community mental health workers. I also provide supervision to trainee and new clinical psychologists.
I am a strong advocate for positive psychology and self-care.
I believe in preventive interventions and promote well-being by conducting talks to the public and healthcare professionals on topics like self-care and insomnia. I have also contributed to articles on mental wellness in hospital publications to the public.
